Hello,

My name is Alexander Shopov. I am the committer of the Bulgarian Gnome translation project.

Is it possible for a project like this to become an official GNU project? It seems that GNOME is an official GNU project so a translation of it could become GNU project as well.

** Brief description of the package:
This is the Bulgarian translation of free Gnome programs and their help.

* Code
** Dependencies:
As these are mainly text files - there are no dependencies similar to a normal program. However - in order to use them the following are necessary:
  -- GNU gettext: to convert po-files to mo-files.
  -- GNOME intltools: http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/intltool/ : to convert xml<->po.


** Configuration & compilation:
  -- As translations by themselves are not a whole program, they have no separate makefiles and configure system. They depend on the underlying sprograms.

** Documentation:
  -- The provided documentation for the Gnome programs is in po-format.  It is convertible to docbook. In all honesty - I am unaware of the possibility of converting to and from texinfo. The documentation is in Cyrillic.

* Licensing:

  -- The programs and their translations are free. Documentation is under GFDL and has no invariable sections.


* Similar projects:
  -- I am unaware of similar projects - translating GNOME in Bulgarian.

* Any other information, comments, or questions:

We are currently using Subversion for source control which is a free program and Trac as bugtracking system.

Subversion is licensed under http://subversion.tigris.org/license-1.html
(I do believe this is a free software license, however I do not see it here:

Trac is licensed under http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracLicense
